OUR SCIENTIFIC FOUNDATION:
- The Blue Zones Study by National Geographic really brought to light the vast amount of research done by one of the largest studies done in American history - the AHS-1 Study and the current second part to this study - AHS-2 and additional studies published from data collected from 96,000 participants. The intent of these studies was to show which components of the Blue Zone behaviors help prevent and reverse lifestyle related diseases. Many studies are finally being published revealing the link between lifestyle & behavior modification and better health. Lifestyle change has a direct influence on gene expression and disease and is often viewed through the lens of Epigenetics.
- Subsequent studies with AHS 1 & 2 data have seen the clear correlation with the first American Blue Zone behaviors and lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, reversal of CVD, cancer mortality, and Diabetes prevention and reversal. One study called "The Grand Prix of Epidemiology" shows some of the most amazing science ever revealing the link of diet and disease.
- Overall, it is clear to say that these groundbreaking studies are revealing the success of Lifestyle Intervention Programs and the connection between lifestyle and behavior modification with disease reversal and longevity. We can look at the acclaimed CDC endorsed Diabetes Prevention Program to also see the effect of coaching and lifestyle change and disease reversal.
